Hill Area Development Programme (HADP) – Local Government of Tamil Nadu

CTRD works with the government on the Hill Area Development Programme (HAPD) for the Erumad macro water shed area.

The Erumad water shed, comprises four micro water shed areas, which are classed as areas where rain water and water from natural gullies and streams gets collected.

The four micro water sheds are:
Pananchira (392,000 hectares)
Manalvayal (360,000 hectares)
Manathivayal (653,200 hectares)
Kayyunni (425,000 hectares)

The total area is around 1,830,200 hectares, in which approximately 2648 families live.

As part of the project, CTRD worked with Agricultural, Forestry and Horticulture officials to examine and analyze the micro water shed areas. The needs of the people and the area were assessed, providing a very good opportunity for the local community to benefit from government development project’s.
